Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, reagents, media, and solutions according to established protocols and researcher instructions.
- Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, pH meters, spectrophotometers, and analytical balances.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, observations, and results in lab notebooks and digital systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines, chemical handling procedures, and waste disposal protocols.
- Assist senior technicians and scientists with setting up and executing experiments, collecting data, and initial data entry.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and organizing chemicals and consumables.
- Perform general laboratory upkeep, including cleaning glassware, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report larger issues to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project progress and contribute to problem-solving.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology) preferred.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and data recording.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in performing tasks.
