Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Surveyor to join our dynamic project teams in Mombasa, Mombasa County. This is a critical field-based role, pivotal to the successful execution of our diverse construction and infrastructure projects. As a Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable survey data throughout all project phases, from initial site investigations and design to construction layout and as-built surveys. Your expertise in site mapping, data collection, and analysis will ensure precision and adherence to project specifications and regulatory standards. You will operate state-of-the-art surveying equipment, interpret blueprints and engineering designs, and collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and construction crews. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in varying outdoor conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive topographic, boundary, and construction surveys using advanced surveying equipment (Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, Drones).
- Perform site mapping, data collection, processing, and analysis to generate accurate plans, profiles, and cross-sections.
- Establish and maintain precise control points and benchmarks for project layout and spatial reference.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately translate design data onto the ground.
- Provide construction layout services, including staking out foundations, road alignments, utility lines, and structural elements.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with design specifications and identify any deviations.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, field notes, and digital data files for project documentation and record-keeping.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and best practices in all field operations.
- Perform as-built surveys and volume computations as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating Total Stations, RTK GPS/GNSS systems, and digital levels.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, geodesy, and land laws.
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) for data processing and map generation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in challenging outdoor environments.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., Institution of Surveyors of Kenya – ISK).
- Experience with drone-based photogrammetry and LiDAR data acquisition/processing.
- Familiarity with local planning and land use regulations in Kenya.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial data management.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in land surveying, preferably within the civil construction sector.
