Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Surveyor specializing in Site Mapping to join our dynamic team in Turkana County, Kenya. This crucial role involves meticulously planning, executing, and managing all aspects of land surveying operations for various development projects, from initial site reconnaissance to final mapping and data analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of survey principles, advanced GPS/GNSS technologies, Total Stations, and GIS software, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and data integrity are maintained throughout every project phase.
Working in the challenging yet rewarding environment of Turkana County, you will be responsible for conducting a wide array of surveys including topographic surveys, cadastral (boundary) surveys, construction staking, and volumetric calculations for earthworks. Your expertise will be vital in providing precise spatial data that underpinning critical decision-making for engineering design, urban planning, infrastructure development (such as roads, water piping systems, energy installations), and effective natural resource management. This position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities to navigate unforeseen site challenges, and a steadfast commitment to adhering to all relevant safety protocols and environmental regulations, especially crucial in this unique geographical context.
Beyond technical proficiency, this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders including project managers, civil engineers, clients, and local community representatives. You will be expected to interpret complex engineering plans, prepare comprehensive and accurate survey reports, and present your findings clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to work independently in remote locations, adapt flexibly to varying field conditions and logistical challenges, and potentially manage and mentor a small survey assistant team will be highly valued. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a tangible impact on the socio-economic development of Turkana County, contributing to projects that lay the groundwork for sustainable progress and improved quality of life for its residents. We are looking for someone who is not just a surveyor, but a geospatial architect of progress, ready to tackle significant regional development initiatives.
