Career.zycto is thrilled to recruit for a diligent and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant – Fabric & Linen Management professional for an exciting opportunity in Sharrow, Sheffield. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the efficient and high-quality processing of all laundry items, including a diverse range of fabrics, linens, and garments. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to hygiene standards, and the ability to operate laundry equipment safely and effectively. You will play a crucial part in ensuring a constant supply of clean, fresh, and well-maintained textiles, directly contributing to the smooth operation and overall positive experience within our client’s establishment. This isn’t just about washing; it’s about managing an entire linen cycle, from sorting and washing to ironing, folding, and distributing items with precision and care. You will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and efficiency, making a tangible difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold all linen, towels, and guest/resident clothing in accordance with established procedures and hygiene standards.
- Operate and maintain commercial laundry equipment, including washing machines, tumble dryers, and ironers, safely and efficiently.
- Inspect items for stains, damage, or wear and tear, and report any issues to management.
- Ensure timely distribution of clean linens to appropriate departments or rooms.
- Manage inventory of laundry supplies, reporting stock levels and ordering needs.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidelines for detergents and chemicals.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the laundry area.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major faults promptly.
- Assist with other general duties as required to support the operations of the facility.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy bags of laundry (up to 25kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of laundry equipment operation and maintenance.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Commitment to health and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial laundry setting, hotel, or care home environment.
- Knowledge of different fabric types and appropriate washing treatments.
- First Aid certification is a plus.
