Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Laundry Attendant to join our facilities management team in Nether Edge, Sheffield. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive care, cleaning, and maintenance of all linens, uniforms, and fabrics used across our diverse operations. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of various fabric types, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and presentation. You will operate commercial laundry equipment, manage inventory, and ensure a continuous supply of fresh, clean textiles. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain industrial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment.
  • Sort and categorise laundry items by fabric type, colour, and required cleaning methods.
  • Pre-treat stains and perform minor mending or report damaged items for repair/replacement.
  • Fold, iron, and press linens, uniforms, and other fabrics to meet professional presentation standards.
  • Monitor and manage laundry supplies, including detergents, softeners, and stain removers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of linen stock and report discrepancies.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and internal cleanliness protocols.
  • Regularly clean and sanitise the laundry area and equipment.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery and collection of linen.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating commercial laundry equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical stamina, capable of lifting and moving heavy laundry bags.
  • Knowledge of different fabric types and appropriate cleaning methods.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety standards in a laundry environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel, healthcare, or similar commercial laundry setting.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems for linen.
