Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Laundry Attendant to join our dedicated Hotel Service team at Kenyatta University Conference Centre. This pivotal role ensures that all linens, uniforms, and guest laundry are impeccably clean, fresh, and readily available to maintain our high standards of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Laundry Attendant plays a critical part in the seamless operation of our accommodation and conference services, directly impacting the comfort and experience of our guests. You will be responsible for the entire laundry process, from sorting and washing to drying, ironing, and folding, adhering strictly to hygiene and quality protocols. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Sort laundry items (linens, towels, uniforms, guest clothing) according to type, color, and required washing procedures.
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironers safely and efficiently, following manufacturer guidelines and established protocols.
- Pre-treat and remove stains effectively using appropriate chemicals and techniques.
- Monitor water and chemical levels in laundry machines and replenish as needed.
- Fold, press, and hang laundered items neatly and professionally, preparing them for storage or distribution.
- Inspect all items for quality, ensuring they meet the required standards of cleanliness and presentation before returning them to circulation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry area, including regular cleaning of machines and workspace.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
- Manage inventory of laundry supplies and report shortages.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and company policies.
- Assist with other hotel service duties as required to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to follow instructions diligently and accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand, lift, bend, and move heavy laundry carts for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of laundry chemicals and their safe handling.
- Reliability and strong time management skills.

- Basic communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Laundry Attendant, preferably in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of various fabric types and appropriate care methods.
- Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment operation.
