Veranda Resorts is seeking a dedicated and efficient Laundry Attendant to join our dynamic team in Candos, Vacoas-Phoenix. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the seamless operation of our laundry services, ensuring all linens, uniforms, and various guest items are handled with the utmost care, cleanliness, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, iron, and meticulously fold all types of linen, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry according to established procedures and strict schedules.
- Operate and maintain a variety of commercial laundry equipment, including industrial washers, dryers, and ironing machines, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
- Monitor the entire laundry process to ensure proper use of detergents, bleaches, and other cleaning agents, strictly adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Inspect all items thoroughly for stains, damage, or wear and tear, and promptly report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for appropriate action and resolution.
- Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and hygienic laundry area, which includes regular cleaning of all machinery, workstations, and storage spaces.
- Handle delicate garments and special guest requests with extra care, precision, and attention to specific instructions.
- Track and manage laundry inventory effectively, ensuring adequate stock levels are consistently maintained and reporting any shortages or discrepancies promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, particularly those related to chemical handling, equipment operation, and personal protective gear.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with other departments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of all laundered items.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on laundry equipment and report any malfunctions, repair needs, or potential hazards to the maintenance team without delay.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Good physical stamina, capable of standing for extended periods, lifting, pushing, and pulling laundry carts and loads.
- Basic understanding of laundry chemicals, their safe handling, and operation of industrial laundry equipment.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong, consistent work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative, supportive member of a team.
- Basic communication skills in English and/or French/Creole to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Laundry Attendant or in a similar role within a hospitality setting (e.g., hotel, resort, guesthouse).
- Comprehensive knowledge of different fabric types and the appropriate washing, drying, and ironing techniques for each.
- Familiarity with industrial laundry machinery and minor troubleshooting.
- Certification in hygiene and sanitation practices within a commercial environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
