Job Description
Are you a meticulous individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining pristine standards? Maluti Mountain Lodge, a premier hospitality destination nestled in the heart of Lesotho’s stunning Maluti Mountains, is actively seeking a dedicated and efficient Laundry Operator to join our vibrant team in St. James, Mokhotlong. This is a critical hands-on role where your expertise will directly contribute to the comfort and satisfaction of our guests. As a Laundry Operator, you will be entrusted with the vital task of ensuring all our textile items – from the softest bedsheets and fluffy towels that greet our guests, to the crisp uniforms worn by our dedicated staff, and the spotless linens adorning our dining areas – are impeccably cleaned, perfectly pressed, and hygienically maintained.
You will become adept at operating our state-of-the-art industrial laundry equipment, including large-capacity washing machines, powerful dryers, and professional pressing tools. Your daily routine will involve sorting various types of laundry according to fabric, colour, and required cleaning methods, treating stains effectively, and meticulously folding and stacking items for distribution. Beyond the operational aspects, you will play a crucial role in the inventory management of linens, reporting any damaged items for repair or replacement, and ensuring that our laundry department adheres to the highest standards of health, safety, and hygiene. This position demands a keen eye for detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain industrial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment.
- Sort laundry by type, color, and fabric, ensuring proper handling and cleaning methods.
- Inspect items for stains and damage, applying appropriate pre-treatment techniques.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean linens, towels, and uniforms efficiently.
- Monitor and manage laundry supplies, reporting needs to management.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and hygiene protocols within the laundry area.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility and equipment.
- Assist with inventory counts and record-keeping for all textile items.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure timely delivery of clean linen.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy laundry bags.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
- Basic literacy and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
