Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized learning support plans for students with diverse needs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group academic assistance across various subjects.
- Assess student learning styles, strengths, and areas for development.
- Collaborate with instructors, parents, and support staff to ensure holistic student development.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and report on outcomes.
- Integrate assistive technologies and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance learning.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on study skills, time management, and test preparation.
- Advocate for student needs and promote an inclusive, equitable learning environment.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in learning support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of learning support programs and resources.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an educational support role or teaching capacity
- Strong understanding of diverse learning styles and educational strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) or similar support plans
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and build rapport with learners of all ages
- Familiarity with educational technology and adaptive tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Special Education or Educational Psychology
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with learning disabilities or ESL backgrounds
- Certification in a relevant area (e.g., Learning Strategist, Educational Therapist)
- Knowledge of current educational policies and accessibility standards in Alberta
- Experience with curriculum adaptation and differentiation
