Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Oversee the implementation of individualized learning plans (ILPs) and support strategies for students with diverse educational needs.
- Conduct regular reviews of student progress and adapt support approaches as necessary, in collaboration with teaching staff and parents.
- Provide guidance and training to LSAs on best practices, classroom management, and specific learning interventions.
- Facilitate effective communication between LSAs, teachers, students, and parents to ensure a cohesive support network.
- Assist in the scheduling and allocation of LSA resources to meet student requirements efficiently.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of learning support programs and initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safeguarding and educational policies.
- Handle administrative tasks related to learning support, including record-keeping and reporting.
- Act as a first point of contact for day-to-day LSA queries and provide solutions or escalate issues appropriately.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience (18+ months) in an educational support role (e.g., LSA, teaching assistant).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a capacity to prioritize tasks.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT proficiency, including familiarity with common office software.
- A genuine commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a supervisory or team lead role within an educational setting.
- Relevant qualification in education, special educational needs (SEN), or childcare.
- Knowledge of local educational policies and safeguarding procedures in Scotland.
- First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with various learning technologies and adaptive tools.
