The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our library resources, from acquisition and cataloging to preservation and dissemination. This includes maintaining an organized and intuitive system for both physical materials and digital databases, ensuring efficient retrieval of information. You will act as a primary point of contact for research inquiries, guiding staff to pertinent resources, conducting literature searches, and providing training on library tools and information retrieval techniques. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the acquisition, cataloging, classification, and organization of both physical and digital library materials, including books, journals, reports, and databases.
  • Assist employees with research inquiries, provide guidance on resource utilization, and conduct literature searches as required.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient library management system (LMS) and ensure accurate record-keeping of all library assets.
  • Curate and disseminate industry-specific information, regulatory updates, and relevant research to internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee interlibrary loan services and manage subscriptions to professional journals and online databases.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on information literacy, research methodologies, and the use of library resources.
  • Implement and enforce library policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with intellectual property rights and data privacy regulations.
  • Perform regular inventory checks, assess collection relevance, and recommend materials for weeding or preservation.
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand their information needs and tailor library services accordingly.
  • Stay abreast of trends in library science, information technology, and the maritime/logistics industry to continuously improve library services.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Librarian or in a similar information management role.
  • Proficiency in library classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress).
  • Demonstrated experience with Library Management Systems (LMS) and digital resource platforms.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to assist diverse users.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a corporate, specialized, or technical library setting.
  • Familiarity with the maritime, shipping, or logistics industry-specific resources.
  • Proficiency in both English and French.
  • Experience with knowledge management systems.
