Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operations of the resource center, including organizing, shelving, and maintaining materials.
- Catalog new acquisitions (books, reports, digital media) using established library procedures.
- Help staff and community members locate and utilize various resources effectively.
- Process incoming and outgoing materials, manage circulation records, and handle basic data entry.
- Maintain a tidy, organized, and inviting resource center environment.
- Support the planning and execution of small workshops or information sessions within the center.
- Perform administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and filing documents.
- Report any damaged materials or equipment issues to the supervisor.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills in Portuguese (written and spoken).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some prior experience (volunteer or paid) in a library, administrative, or archival setting.
- Familiarity with library classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal, local systems).
- Knowledge of local languages prevalent in Quiterajo, Macomia (e.g., Macua, Mwani, Kimwani).
- A certificate or diploma in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
