Job Description

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the day-to-day operations of the library. Key Responsibilities
- Assist library patrons with locating materials, using the catalog, and accessing various library resources (e.g., databases, computers).
- Perform circulation duties, including checking materials in and out, managing holds, and processing overdue items.
- Catalog and process new library materials (books, periodicals, multimedia) according to established guidelines.
- Shelve returned materials accurately and maintain the organized appearance of the library stacks.
- Provide basic technical support for public computers, printers, and other library equipment.
- Assist with interlibrary loan requests and document delivery services.
- Participate in the planning and execution of library programs and events.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all patrons.
- Handle inquiries and resolve minor issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff when necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a library setting or similar information management role.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with library management systems (LMS) and standard office software (MS Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Customer service-oriented approach with a friendly and patient demeanor.
- Physical ability to lift and move library materials, and to stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education or certification in Library Science or Information Management.
- Familiarity with MARC cataloging standards.
- Experience with specialized library software or databases.
- Fluency in German and English.
- Previous experience assisting with library programs or community outreach.
