Key Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas vigilantly to ensure the safety of all swimmers and guests, preventing accidents and enforcing pool rules.
- Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, administering first aid, CPR, and AED when necessary.
- Perform daily safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and water quality (e.g., pH, chlorine levels), reporting any issues promptly.
- Educate guests on pool rules, safety procedures, and proper use of facilities in a clear and courteous manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool deck, changing rooms, and surrounding areas.
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly for any accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences.
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions and drills to maintain and enhance life-saving skills and emergency preparedness.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the pool area, including setting up and storing equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering guest questions and assisting with their needs to enhance their experience.
Required Skills
- Valid Lifeguard Certification (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent recognized international certification)
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Proven experience in a lifeguard or pool safety role
- Excellent swimming proficiency and endurance
- Strong observational and decision-making skills under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff, including children and adults
- Physical fitness to perform rescues and administer aid
- Knowledge of pool safety regulations and basic water chemistry
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications in water safety instruction or aquatic fitness
- Experience working in a hospitality or recreational facility setting
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Kiswahili)
