Job Description

Are you an experienced and highly safety-conscious Lift Operator looking for a vital role within a dynamic and expansive urban development? Tatu City is seeking a dedicated Lift Operator to join our Facilities Management team. In this critical on-site role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various vertical transportation systems, including passenger elevators, service, and cargo lifts, across our diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings within the Tatu City development. As a Lift Operator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our residents, tenants, and visitors experience reliable and secure vertical movement within Tatu City’s state-of-the-art infrastructure. Your daily duties will extend beyond routine operations to encompass diligent pre-operation checks, continuous monitoring of lift performance, identifying and promptly reporting potential mechanical or electrical faults, and assisting in minor troubleshooting where appropriate and safe to do so. You will be expected to maintain a clean and operational lift environment, ensuring all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and operational guidelines are strictly adhered to. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and prompt, accurate fault reporting to ensure minimal disruption to services. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate passenger and cargo lifts safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operation checks and routine inspections of all lift components and safety features.
  • Monitor lift performance and promptly identify and report any malfunctions, faults, or unusual noises.
  • Assist in minor troubleshooting and perform basic maintenance tasks as authorized.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, emergency protocols, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the lift cabins and immediate areas.
  • Provide courteous assistance to residents, tenants, and visitors, including managing queues and informing of delays.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, including lift entrapments, following established procedures.
  • Liaise with the facilities management team and maintenance technicians for scheduled servicing and repairs.
  • Keep accurate logs of lift operations, incidents, and maintenance activities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Lift Operator or in a similar vertical transportation role.
  • Strong understanding of lift operation principles, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to conduct routine inspections and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • High level of responsibility, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Lift Operation, Industrial Safety, or a related technical field.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems pertinent to lift operations.
  • Experience working in a large commercial, residential, or mixed-use facility.
  • First Aid and basic fire safety certification.
  • Fluency in Swahili and English.
