Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Linux Administrator to join our growing team in Kirkland, Montreal. This critical role involves maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability and peak performance of mission-critical systems. As a Linux Administrator, you will be instrumental in supporting our various projects and client environments, providing expert-level system administration, troubleshooting, and strategic planning. You will work closely with development and operations teams to implement solutions, automate routine tasks, and uphold best practices for system management and security. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and associated software.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system uptime and reliability.
  • Perform regular system backups and recoveries, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Implement and maintain security patches, updates, and configurations to safeguard systems against vulnerabilities.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Develop and maintain scripts (Bash, Python) for system automation and task streamlining.
  • Collaborate with development and network teams to deploy applications and ensure seamless integration.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams on Linux-related matters.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in administering Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Solid scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCSA, LPIC).
