Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, holistic personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, while maintaining client dignity and privacy.
  • Administer medication accurately and on schedule, meticulously documenting all actions and observations.
  • Develop and implement personalised care plans, regularly reviewing and adapting them to meet evolving client needs.
  • Manage household duties, including meal preparation, light cleaning, laundry, and shopping, to ensure a comfortable living environment.
  • Offer companionship, emotional support, and engage clients in stimulating activities appropriate to their interests and abilities.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for families and external healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed care records, daily logs, and incident reports in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead by example, mentoring and providing guidance to junior care staff or relief carers, fostering a positive and professional team dynamic.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to any changes in a client's health, well-being, or behaviour, escalating concerns to the relevant parties.
  • Manage emergencies calmly and effectively, adhering to established protocols.
  • Facilitate safe mobility and transfers, utilising appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Ensure the client’s home environment remains safe, clean, and conducive to their well-being.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding, and data protection policies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience in a formal care setting, ideally within a live-in or complex care role.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a care environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in administering medication and managing care plans.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle (preferred but not strictly essential if within walking distance of amenities).
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • A genuinely caring, patient, and compassionate nature.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Health and Social Care.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Specialised training in areas such as dementia care, Parkinson's care, or palliative care.
  • Experience with complex care needs, including PEG feeding, stoma care, or catheter care.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
