Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily feeding and watering of livestock according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Monitor livestock for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report any concerns to supervisors immediately.
  • Assist with birthing and rearing young animals, providing necessary care and support.
  • Clean and sanitize barns, pens, and other animal housing areas to maintain hygienic conditions.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely, such as tractors, skid steers, or feed mixers (training provided if necessary).
  • Assist with milking procedures, including preparing animals and equipment, and ensuring milk quality.
  • Handle and move livestock humanely and efficiently, utilizing proper techniques.
  • Participate in vaccination, tagging, and other animal health protocols.
  • Perform general farm maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep of facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of feeding, health, and other operational data as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working with large animals in various weather conditions
  • Basic observational skills for monitoring animal health
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with livestock, preferably cattle or dairy animals
  • Knowledge of basic animal husbandry practices and animal welfare principles
  • Experience operating farm equipment (e.g., tractors, skid steers)
  • First Aid certification
  • Agricultural training or related certifications
