Job Description
Are you a highly motivated and customer-centric individual with a passion for finance and community development? FBC Bank is seeking an experienced and dynamic Loan Officer to join our vibrant team in Harare Province. This pivotal role involves being the face of our lending operations, directly interacting with clients to assess their financial needs, provide expert advice, and facilitate loan applications. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, attract, and onboard new loan clients through active prospecting, community engagement, and referrals.
- Conduct thorough financial assessments, including creditworthiness analysis, income verification, and risk evaluation, for potential borrowers.
- Advise clients on suitable loan products and terms, ensuring a clear understanding of obligations and repayment schedules.
- Prepare and process loan applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with FBC Bank's policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor loan portfolio performance, identify potential risks, and implement effective collection strategies when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitor offerings, and changes in lending regulations.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients to foster loyalty and encourage repeat business.
- Achieve assigned individual and team loan disbursement and portfolio quality targets.
- Ensure timely and accurate data entry and record-keeping for all client interactions and loan transactions.
- Participate in community outreach programs and financial literacy initiatives to enhance FBC Bank's presence and impact.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar credit-related role, preferably within a banking or microfinance institution.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and loan portfolio growth targets.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial statements, and risk assessment principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and banking software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated integrity and ethical conduct in all professional dealings.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Harare Province as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Credit Management or a related discipline.
- Experience with local Zimbabwean financial regulations and market dynamics.
- Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Shona, Ndebele) is an advantage.
