Job Description
Swift Transport is actively seeking a highly motivated, meticulous, and experienced Logistics Coordinator to bolster our operational capabilities in Nyanga, Manicaland Province. This critical full-time role serves as the linchpin of our regional distribution network, ensuring the seamless and efficient movement of goods from various origins to their final destinations within Manicaland and beyond. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently plan, coordinate, and monitor the daily dispatch and routing of vehicles for collections and deliveries within Nyanga and its surrounding districts, ensuring optimal resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
- Track and trace all shipments in real-time, providing precise and timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status, potential delays, and estimated times of arrival.
- Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve logistical issues such as transit delays, damaged goods, or shipment discrepancies, escalating complex problems to senior management when necessary.
- Accurately process and verify all essential documentation, including waybills, delivery notes, manifests, and customs clearance forms, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Maintain open and effective communication with drivers, warehouse personnel, suppliers, and clients to foster seamless operational workflows and cultivate strong, lasting professional relationships.
- Manage and reconcile inventory levels in transit and at local storage points, utilizing our advanced logistics management software to maintain precise records of all movements.
- Compile and analyze data for operational performance reports, identifying key trends, areas for process improvement, and contributing valuable insights to strategic planning initiatives.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations across all logistical operations, promoting a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in logistics coordination, supply chain management, or transportation operations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a demanding, high-volume environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to interact clearly and professionally with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel for data analysis) and hands-on experience with logistics or transport management systems (TMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to operational challenges.
- Thorough understanding of local and national transport regulations, as well as best practices in freight forwarding and warehousing.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience working within a large-scale logistics provider or a similar fast-paced distribution environment in Zimbabwe or the SADC region.
- In-depth knowledge of the geographical layout, road networks, and key transport routes within Manicaland Province.
- Proficiency in additional local languages commonly spoken in Manicaland (e.g., Shona, Manyika).
