Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily transport activities, including route optimization, load planning, and dispatching drivers.
- Liaise effectively with drivers, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any logistical issues that may arise.
- Utilize transport management systems (TMS) to track shipments, manage inventory, and provide real-time updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies, particularly within the UK.
- Proactively identify and address potential delays or disruptions, implementing effective solutions to maintain delivery schedules.
- Process and manage all necessary documentation, including delivery notes, manifests, and customs paperwork when applicable.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transport efficiency, costs, and service levels.
- Assist in negotiating rates with carriers and third-party logistics providers to achieve cost-effective transport solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the transport department to enhance operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities, driver hours, vehicle maintenance schedules, and other relevant data.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a logistics or transport coordination role.
- Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK and efficient route planning abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with drivers, clients, and suppliers.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
