Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and vigilant Loss Prevention Officer to join our team in St. Vital, Winnipeg. This full-time, on-site role is pivotal in maintaining the safety and security of our premises, assets, and personnel. As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will be on the front lines, acting as a deterrent to theft, fraud, and other illicit activities, while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Your primary responsibility will involve observing, identifying, and reporting suspicious activities, ensuring a secure environment for both our employees and customers.

You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing company security policies and procedures, conducting surveillance using advanced security systems, and responding effectively to incidents as they arise. This includes monitoring CCTV footage, conducting foot patrols, and addressing any potential security breaches with efficiency and professionalism. This role requires a strong understanding of legal guidelines pertaining to loss prevention, including Canadian criminal code and provincial regulations, and the ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure. You will also be responsible for accurately documenting all incidents and maintaining detailed reports for management review, contributing to continuous improvement in our security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive surveillance and observation to deter and detect theft, fraud, and other dishonest acts.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras and other security systems for suspicious activities.
  • Perform regular foot patrols of the premises, identifying and addressing security risks.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Investigate reported incidents, gather evidence, and complete detailed incident reports.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures related to loss prevention and security.
  • Collaborate with management and local law enforcement when necessary.
  • Provide security awareness training and education to staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of security-related activities and investigations.
  • Assist in inventory control measures to minimize shrink.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field (minimum 1 year).
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using CCTV and other security monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures related to apprehension, arrest, and documentation in Canada.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
  • Valid Security Guard License in Manitoba.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with incident reporting software.
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation training.
