Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Machine Maintenance Technician to join our client’s factory plant team in May Pen, Clarendon Parish, Jamaica. This is a pivotal role focused on ensuring the continuous operation and optimal performance of a wide range of industrial machinery and production equipment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency across our manufacturing operations.
Your primary responsibilities will include executing preventative maintenance schedules, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults, performing intricate repairs, and collaborating closely with production teams to maintain peak operational output. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on factory machinery, including but not limited to conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, packaging lines, and production presses, ensuring strict adherence to established schedules and safety protocols.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults using schematics, manuals, and advanced diagnostic tools, identifying root causes of breakdowns swiftly and accurately.
- Execute timely and effective repairs, replacements, and precise adjustments of machine parts, components, and intricate systems to restore full operational functionality.
- Conduct thorough equipment inspections, complete detailed maintenance logs, generate comprehensive reports, and process work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively with production operators and supervisors to understand machine performance issues, provide technical insights, and implement robust solutions.
- Participate actively in the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of new machinery and equipment, ensuring smooth integration and compliance.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and relevant industry standards to maintain a consistently safe working environment.
- Propose and implement innovative improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment reliability to enhance overall operational efficiency and reduce long-term costs.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workshop area, ensuring all tools, spare parts, and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and accounted for.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Machine Maintenance Technician in a factory or industrial manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills for diverse industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls (VFDs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Experience with various welding techniques, fabrication, and basic machining operations.
- Ability to perform precise repairs, alignments, and adjustments on complex machinery components.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and best practices in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training, associate's degree, or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a closely related engineering field.
- Demonstrable experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license.
- Certification and proven ability to safely operate forklifts or other heavy industrial equipment.
