Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic malfunctions using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Execute timely and effective repairs, including replacing defective parts, adjusting settings, and calibrating instruments to manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions before breakdowns occur.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, time spent, and issues resolved.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring proper setup and integration.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians or operational staff as needed.
  • Stay updated with new technologies and maintenance techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring availability for maintenance and repair tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Machine Technician or similar role in an industrial or telecom environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to use various diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb, bend, and work in various environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with specific telecommunications equipment, power generators, or HVAC systems.
  • Certification in relevant technical areas (e.g., industrial machinery repair, electrical systems).
  • Valid Mauritian driving license (manual transmission).
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
