Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated team in Souillac, Savanne District. This pivotal role involves ensuring the optimal functioning, reliability, and longevity of our critical plant machinery and equipment across our sugar processing and energy co-generation facilities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in implementing robust preventative and predictive maintenance programs, swiftly diagnosing and rectifying complex mechanical and electrical faults, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across our operations. You will work closely with production teams, supervisors, and other engineering disciplines to minimize downtime, enhance operational efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all plant machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors during repair work, overhauls, and installations.
  • Optimize equipment performance and reliability through root cause analysis of failures and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of capital projects, including equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to junior staff and operators.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, motors, drives, and control circuits.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Proven experience with CMMS software and maintenance planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and work effectively in a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional engineering registration.
  • Experience in the sugar, energy generation, or food processing industry.
  • Certifications in reliability engineering (e.g., CMRP) or Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with vibration analysis, thermography, and other predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Project management experience, particularly in maintenance or capital expenditure projects.
