Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Full-Time Maintenance Engineer specializing in Factory Equipment to join our dedicated team in Linstead, Saint Catherine Parish. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our state-of-the-art production machinery and plant infrastructure. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our operational efficiency, blending technical expertise with strategic planning to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, implementing effective corrective actions, and developing robust preventive maintenance schedules for a wide array of industrial equipment, including but not limited to, processing lines, packaging machines, conveyors, pumps, and utility systems. A deep understanding of automation controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems specific to food and beverage manufacturing environments is crucial. Beyond the technical aspects, you will play a key role in training junior staff, upholding stringent safety standards, and collaborating cross-functionally with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve recurring issues. Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for all factory equipment to ensure maximum operational efficiency and extend asset lifespan.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems issues on production lines, packaging machinery, and utility equipment.
- Perform timely and effective repairs, overhauls, and installations of machinery, adhering to all safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance history, and manage spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in the commissioning of new equipment and process improvements, providing technical input and support.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies, food safety regulations (HACCP, GMPs), and environmental guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing industrial electrical control systems (PLC, VFD, sensors).
- Strong mechanical aptitude for maintaining and troubleshooting pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Proven problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault finding.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working within the Food & Beverage or FMCG manufacturing sector.
