Job Description

Are you a skilled and proactive Maintenance Officer with a passion for ensuring properties are not just functional, but impeccably maintained? Medine Property, a leading name in property development and management in Mauritius, is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our dynamic team in Vacoas. This pivotal role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of a diverse range of properties within our portfolio, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, operational efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. You will be instrumental in safeguarding the value of our assets and contributing to the satisfaction of our tenants and occupants.

As a Maintenance Officer, you will be the first line of defense against property issues, responsible for conducting regular inspections, identifying potential problems before they escalate, and coordinating timely and effective repair solutions. Your expertise will cover a broad spectrum of areas, including electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general building fabric. Beyond reactive repairs, a significant part of your role will involve implementing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of our assets and minimize unexpected disruptions. You will manage external contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work is completed to specification, on schedule, and within budget, while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.

This position demands a meticulous individual with excellent problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, manage inventory of tools and spare parts, and provide regular reports on property conditions and maintenance expenditures. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of properties to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
  • Respond promptly to repair requests and emergencies, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and projects.
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and budgets.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to property occupants regarding maintenance-related queries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for property maintenance processes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in property maintenance and repair.
  • Strong technical skills in at least two of the following: plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, HVAC.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to property maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma or certification in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical, Plumbing, Building Services).
  • Experience with property management software or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Valid driving license.
  • First Aid certification.
