Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly.
  • Execute minor carpentry, plastering, painting, and decorating tasks to a high standard.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance routines to ensure optimal operational efficiency and prolong asset life.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and fault reports, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and inventory used.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for various events and meetings.
  • Manage and store tools and equipment properly and safely, reporting any damage or loss.
  • Collaborate effectively with external contractors and service providers when necessary for specialised tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Maintenance Worker, Handyperson, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in a variety of repair tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities to identify and rectify issues efficiently.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use various hand and power tools.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures, including manual handling and COSHH.
  • Excellent physical condition, capable of performing strenuous tasks, lifting, and working at heights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational training or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds in a trade discipline).
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Prior experience in a commercial property, hospitality, or office maintenance setting.
