Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds.
- Conduct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repairs efficiently and safely.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify and resolve maintenance issues proactively.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and address issues with urgency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and perform necessary adjustments or replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
- Manage and organise the inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate and supervise the work of external contractors when specialist services are required.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for various internal events or reconfigurations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a maintenance or handyman role.
- Solid understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Proficiency in basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or trade qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Maintenance Operations, City & Guilds).
- Certification in Health & Safety (e.g., IOSH Working Safely).
- Experience with HVAC systems maintenance.
