Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, and layouts to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Implement and champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis of production issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Design, and Production teams during new product introduction (NPI) to ensure manufacturability and smooth transitions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate and select new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and tools to enhance production capabilities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing operations and report on progress and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards within the manufacturing environment.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff to optimize process adherence and skill development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and analyzing manufacturing processes and layouts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or an MBA.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience in specific industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or electronics.
  • Familiarity with UK manufacturing standards and regulations (training can be provided).
