Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marine Conservation Assistant to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in field surveys and data collection activities, including water quality testing, species monitoring, and habitat assessments.
- Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and retrieval of scientific equipment used for marine research.
- Support the development and delivery of educational workshops and community outreach events to raise awareness about marine conservation issues.
- Help with the coordination and execution of habitat restoration projects, such as shoreline clean-ups and invasive species removal.
- Maintain accurate records of field data, observations, and project progress using established protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and community partners on various conservation initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during field operations and public engagements.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated passion for environmental conservation, particularly marine ecosystems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties in various outdoor weather conditions, which may include lifting up to 25 lbs and prolonged standing or walking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant volunteer experience in environmental or conservation projects.
- Post-secondary education or enrollment in a related field (e.g., environmental science, biology, marine biology).
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with basic boat handling or willingness to learn.
