Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Part-Time Marine Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Hwange. This unique opportunity calls for an individual with a robust understanding of marine engineering principles, maintenance, and operational integrity, even in a primarily land-based industrial context. While Hwange is not a coastal city, our extensive operations often interact with significant water bodies for various industrial processes, including water management, treatment, and potentially specialized riverine or large-dam equipment support. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of any water-based machinery, pumping systems, or related infrastructure critical to our mining and processing activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics of marine-related equipment, including pumps, propulsion systems, and water treatment units, for optimal performance within the industrial complex.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems associated with water management and specialized industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed technical reports on equipment condition, maintenance activities, and recommended improvements.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate marine engineering principles into broader operational strategies.
- Assist in the procurement and evaluation of marine engineering components and spares.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and operational staff as required.
- Participate in emergency response procedures related to equipment malfunctions or incidents.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a marine specialization.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in marine engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and power generation principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team.
- Adherence to strict safety standards and regulations.
- Physical ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with industrial water management systems and regulations.
- Prior experience in a heavy industry or mining environment.
