Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Marine Warehouse Handler to join our dedicated team in Mwangapwani, Kilifi. This is a full-time, on-site position vital to the smooth flow of goods through our marine logistics operations. As a Marine Warehouse Handler, you will be instrumental in the efficient movement, storage, and handling of various types of cargo that arrive at or depart from our facilities via sea. Your role will involve working in a fast-paced environment, often dealing with goods that require specific handling procedures due to their nature, origin, or destination. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate reception, meticulous storage, and timely dispatch of marine cargo, adhering strictly to safety regulations and company policies. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, a team player, and possesses a strong work ethic. You will be an integral part of our supply chain, ensuring that goods are prepared for transit or distribution effectively, contributing directly to the satisfaction of our clients and the operational efficiency of Siginon Group. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and check incoming marine cargo against shipping documents, noting any discrepancies or damages.
  • Accurately sort, label, and store goods in designated warehouse locations, optimizing space utilization.
  • Operate various warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, safely and efficiently.
  • Pick and pack orders according to client specifications and prepare them for onward transportation or distribution.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in maintaining accurate stock records using warehouse management systems.
  • Ensure the warehouse environment is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and operational standards.
  • Participate in loading and unloading containers, vessels, and trucks as required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality control issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure seamless warehouse operations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and relevant industry regulations, especially those pertaining to marine cargo handling.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 25kg), bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for reading labels, counting inventory, and understanding instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling cargo and managing documentation.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding warehouse environment.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, or public holidays as per operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, preferably with marine cargo.
  • Valid certification for operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
  • Familiarity with import/export procedures and documentation relevant to marine logistics.
  • A secondary school certificate (KCSE or equivalent).
