Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Market Vendor to join our growing team in La Gaulette, Black River District. This pivotal role involves managing our market stall, engaging directly with customers, and driving sales for our curated range of products. As a Market Vendor, you will be the face of Career.zycto in the bustling local market, responsible for creating an inviting atmosphere, showcasing our offerings, and building lasting relationships with the community.
Your day will involve the dynamic process of setting up and dismantling our market stall with efficiency and an eye for attractive display. You will be instrumental in ensuring our products are presented in the best possible light, capturing the attention of passersby and encouraging engagement. A significant part of your role will be actively engaging with customers, sharing product knowledge, answering questions, and providing an exceptional purchasing experience. We are looking for someone who thrives on interaction, can confidently articulate product benefits, and is adept at closing sales with a friendly and persuasive approach.
Beyond sales, you will manage daily inventory, ensuring accurate stock counts and reporting any needs or discrepancies. You will also be responsible for handling all transactions accurately, whether cash or card, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness and organisation of the stall throughout market hours. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently set up and dismantle the market stall, ensuring an attractive and organised display.
- Proactively engage with customers, providing product information and promoting sales.
- Accurately handle all cash and card transactions.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and organisation at the market stall.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, reporting inventory needs and conducting daily counts.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving minor issues professionally.
- Collect customer feedback and provide insights to management regarding product interest and market trends.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations applicable to market operations.
- Represent Career.zycto's brand and values positively to the local community.
- Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with regular customers.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of proven experience in retail, sales, or a customer-facing role.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills in English and Mauritian Creole.
- Strong numeracy skills for handling transactions and managing inventory.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina to set up/dismantle stalls and stand for extended periods.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented approach to sales and customer engagement.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a market vendor or in outdoor sales.
- Familiarity with local products and consumer preferences in Mauritius.
- Basic understanding of merchandising and visual display techniques.
- Proficiency in French is an added advantage.
