Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Prepare and mix mortar, grout, and concrete to the correct consistency, ensuring proper bonding and structural integrity.
  • Cut and trim masonry units to size using hand and power tools, ensuring clean and precise cuts.
  • Measure and mark surfaces to lay out work, ensuring precise alignment, spacing, and plumb of blocks and bricks.
  • Inspect work in progress and finished structures to ensure strict compliance with quality standards, local building codes, and site safety regulations.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools common to the masonry trade, including trowels, levels, hammers, chisels, saws, and mixers.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding and other temporary structures safely and efficiently when required.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with other construction team members, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, to ensure seamless project execution and coordination.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering strictly to all site safety protocols and best practices at all times.
  • Report any structural defects, potential safety hazards, material discrepancies, or equipment malfunctions to the site supervisor promptly.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Mason in construction.
  • Proficient in various masonry techniques (bricklaying, block laying, stone masonry).
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction practices, and safety regulations relevant to masonry work.
  • Expertise in preparing, mixing, and applying mortar, grout, and concrete mixes to specified consistencies.
  • Proficiency in safely using a wide range of masonry tools and equipment, both hand and power-operated.
  • Excellent physical stamina, dexterity, and strength, with the ability to lift heavy materials and work efficiently in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
  • Keen eye for detail, precision in measurements, and a commitment to high-quality finishing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Good verbal communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members.

Preferred Qualifications
