Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Mason specializing in Wall & Tile Finishing to join our network of top-tier construction professionals in Ely, Cardiff. This role is crucial for delivering projects to the highest aesthetic and structural standards, focusing on the precise installation of various walling and tiling materials. As a Mason with expertise in finishing, you will be responsible for creating seamless, durable, and visually appealing surfaces that define the quality of our clients’ builds. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for the application of various masonry and tiling materials, ensuring they are clean, level, and ready for installation.
- Accurately cut, lay, and fix bricks, blocks, and natural stone according to architectural plans and specifications.
- Install a diverse range of wall and floor tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, and natural stone, ensuring precise alignment and optimal adhesion.
- Apply grout and sealants, ensuring a clean, uniform, and waterproof finish.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine exact specifications and layouts.
- Measure and mark surfaces to guide the placement of materials, ensuring accurate spacing and patterns.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, to ensure project synergy.
- Perform quality checks on finished work, making any necessary adjustments to ensure the highest standards are met.
- Operate and maintain a variety of masonry tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mason with a strong focus on wall and tile finishing.
- Proficiency in cutting, laying, and pointing bricks, blocks, and stone.
- Expertise in installing various types of wall and floor tiles, including complex patterns.
- In-depth knowledge of different mortars, adhesives, grouts, and sealants.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Trowel Occupations (Bricklaying) or Wall & Floor Tiling.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience with specialist tiling applications (e.g., large format tiles, wet rooms).
- Familiarity with modern masonry and tiling techniques and materials.
