Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, materials, and procedures.
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, foundations, arches, and other structures.
- Measure, cut, and shape masonry materials using hand and power tools.
- Mix and spread mortar, grout, and other bonding agents.
- Inspect masonry structures for defects, wear, or damage, and perform necessary repairs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and construction site protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction workers and project supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in laying various masonry materials (bricks, blocks, stone).
- Strong understanding of mortar mixing and application.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction safety practices.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina and strength for demanding tasks.
- Attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certificate or diploma in masonry.
- Experience with various masonry finishes and decorative techniques.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Zimbabwe.
