Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an innovative and dedicated Materials Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team in Downtown, New Albany. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of advanced materials across various applications. As a Materials Scientist, you will be instrumental in designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and testing novel materials, leveraging your expertise to solve complex technical challenges and drive product innovation. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments for the synthesis, processing, and characterization of new materials.
  • Perform advanced material characterization using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and formulate conclusions, presenting findings in detailed reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to translate material properties into functional prototypes and commercial products.
  • Identify and troubleshoot material-related issues, proposing innovative solutions and improvements.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in materials science, incorporating new knowledge into ongoing projects.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory records, adhere to safety protocols, and ensure the quality and integrity of experimental data.
  • Contribute to patent applications, scientific publications, and internal technical documentation.

Required Skills

  • PhD or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related engineering field.
  • Proven experience in material synthesis, characterization, and property evaluation.
  • Expertise with various analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, DSC, TGA, mechanical testing).
  • Strong understanding of structure-property relationships in materials.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with polymer science, composites, or advanced ceramic materials.
  • Familiarity with computational materials science tools (e.g., FEM, DFT).
  • Track record of scientific publications or patent contributions.
  • Experience in an industrial R&D setting, bringing materials from concept to application.
  • Project management experience, including planning and execution of experimental programs.
