Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experimental plans for the synthesis, processing, and characterisation of novel materials.
- Perform advanced material characterisation using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis.
- Analyse and interpret complex data sets, drawing sound scientific conclusions and generating comprehensive technical reports.
- Collaborate with engineers and product developers to integrate new materials into prototypes and products.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, emerging technologies, and industry trends in materials science.
- Contribute to patent applications, scientific publications, and presentations at conferences.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines in all laboratory activities.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in materials synthesis, processing, and characterisation techniques.
- Strong understanding of material properties, structure-property relationships, and degradation mechanisms.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Origin) and statistical methods.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral experience or relevant industry experience in a research and development setting.
- Experience with computational materials science (e.g., DFT, MD simulations).
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
