Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on buses, trucks, and other fleet vehicles, adhering to established schedules and standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Conduct comprehensive repairs and replacements of components including engines, transmissions, differentials, braking systems, steering mechanisms, and electrical systems.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools effectively to pinpoint issues and ensure accurate repairs.
- Inspect vehicles for safety, roadworthiness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and best practices in the workshop environment.
- Provide technical advice and support to drivers and other team members as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workshop.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with industry advancements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanic Technician, particularly with heavy vehicles (buses, trucks).
- Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engine systems, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements for heavy vehicles (Code C/EC preferred).
- A strong understanding of workshop safety procedures and regulations.
- Good communication skills.
