Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Le Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis. This pivotal role involves the design, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical machinery and integrated systems critical to our diverse operations, particularly within our marine and industrial divisions. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and implement mechanical systems and components for various industrial, marine, and property projects.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of machinery, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Conduct regular inspections and diagnostic tests on equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues proactively.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings, and tender documents for mechanical projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Collaborate with electrical, civil, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs and operations comply with local and international safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, materials, and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operational teams, troubleshooting complex mechanical problems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within industrial, marine, or heavy machinery sectors.
  • Proven experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) for design and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills (both English and French).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and environmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with condition monitoring techniques and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems.
  • Experience in a port or maritime environment.
  • Proficiency in a third language relevant to the region (e.g., Mauritian Creole).
