Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and commission mechanical components and equipment according to technical drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, inspections, and predictive analysis on machinery to ensure optimal performance and extend operational life.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults, troubleshoot complex breakdowns, and carry out timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
  • Ensure all work is completed in strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks, functional testing, and calibration on repaired or newly installed systems.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, part replacements, and system modifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and other interdepartmental teams to optimize operational processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
  • Operate various hand and power tools, as well as lifting and rigging equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Mechanical Fitter, Industrial Mechanic, or a similar role in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong foundational understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and accurately interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Expertise in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults systematically and effectively.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Physical dexterity, stamina, and the ability to perform demanding tasks in various working conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of relevant vocational training (e.g., Facharbeiterbrief as Industriemechaniker) or a technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification in specific industrial practices such as welding, rigging, or forklift operation.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance tasks and inventory.
  • Familiarity with German industrial standards (e.g., DIN, VDE) and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in German language (B1 or higher) to facilitate communication within the team and with local suppliers.
