As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, you will be instrumental in executing both planned preventative maintenance schedules and responding swiftly to unplanned mechanical breakdowns, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.
Your expertise will be vital in diagnosing complex mechanical faults, performing precision repairs, and undertaking routine servicing of a diverse range of equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other rotating machinery. You will work closely with production teams, engineers, and other maintenance personnel to identify areas for improvement, implement solutions, and contribute to our commitment to operational efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, identify root causes, and implement effective repair strategies.
- Execute precision repairs, replacements, and overhauls of components such as bearings, seals, gears, shafts, and valves.
- Install, commission, and align new mechanical equipment and systems according to specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, document repairs, and report on equipment status.
- Collaborate with electrical technicians, engineers, and production staff to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
Required Skills
- Completed vocational training or apprenticeship as an Industrial Mechanic, Fitter, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
