Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and skilled Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team at Chuka Medical Centre. This pivotal role involves providing essential support to our doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our private clinic. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for many of our patients, playing a crucial role in creating a positive and comforting experience.
You will be responsible for a blend of clinical and administrative duties, directly contributing to patient care and clinic efficiency. This includes preparing examination rooms, taking patient histories and vital signs, assisting with minor procedures, and managing patient records. Key Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations, ensuring a comfortable and private environment.
- Obtain and accurately record patient medical histories, chief complaints, and vital signs.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as wound care, administering injections, and collecting specimens as directed by a physician.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms and medical equipment.
- Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and maintain organized electronic and physical patient records.
- Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies as required.
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure instructions, medication usage, and general health information.
- Handle telephone inquiries, route calls appropriately, and manage patient correspondence.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure stock levels are adequate.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and health regulations, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA/data protection).
Required Skills
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and patient history.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinic procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Basic computer literacy and experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
