Key Responsibilities
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes to diagnoses and procedures for various medical specialties.

- Abstract necessary information from patient records, including medical necessity, surgical procedures, and diagnoses.
- Identify and resolve coding discrepancies, escalating complex issues to supervisors or clinical staff when necessary.

- Stay current with coding updates, payer rule changes, and governmental regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OIG).
- Communicate effectively with providers and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation for accurate code assignment.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance coding knowledge and skills.
