Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and analyses on biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using established protocols and procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and culture media according to strict specifications.
- Accurately record, interpret, and report test results in accordance with quality control standards and laboratory policies.
- Maintain strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control guidelines to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Manage and organize patient samples, ensuring proper collection, labeling, storage, and disposal.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Assist in the development and validation of new testing methodologies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and practices.
- Collaborate effectively with medical professionals, colleagues, and other healthcare staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Medical Lab Technician, preferably in a clinical diagnostic setting.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and serology.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and analysis.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, LIS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., MLS(ASCPi), HPC).
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
- Familiarity with ISO 15189 accreditation standards.
- Experience in specialized areas such as molecular diagnostics or immunology.
