Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests on patient samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) using established protocols and instrumentation.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory equipment and automated analyzers.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, stains, and controls according to standard operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks, document results, and implement corrective actions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test outcomes.
- Manage and organize patient samples, including accessioning, proper handling, processing, storage, and safe disposal.
- Accurately record, verify, and report test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other relevant documentation platforms.
- Strictly adhere to all safety regulations, infection control policies, and laboratory quality assurance standards and accreditations.
- Assist in the validation and implementation of new testing methods, technologies, and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile working environment to prevent contamination and ensure safety.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with pathologists, clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members regarding test results or sample inquiries.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven hands-on experience as a Medical Lab Technician in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and serology.
- Strong understanding of laboratory equipment operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of quality control and assurance principles, as well as adherence to regulatory standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in all laboratory procedures and documentation.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and standard computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
