Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and urinalysis, following established protocols and procedures.
- Receive, log, and prepare patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for testing, ensuring proper identification and specimen integrity.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to quality assurance standards.
- Conduct quality control procedures, record data, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Analyze and interpret test results, identifying abnormal findings and escalating critical values to appropriate medical personnel.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, results obtained, and quality control measures.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, infection control policies, and laboratory accreditation standards.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in medical laboratory science.
- Collaborate effectively with other laboratory staff, nurses, and physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
- Manage laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related scientific field.
- Proven experience as a Medical Lab Technician, with a strong focus on testing and sample management.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment.
- Thorough understanding of laboratory safety regulations and quality control procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy for data entry and laboratory information systems (LIS).
