Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of clinical laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording, interpretation, and reporting of test results.
- Adhere strictly to quality control procedures, laboratory safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform routine quality assurance checks and troubleshooting of equipment and assays.
- Collect and process biological specimens (blood, urine, etc.) with precision and care.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding test results and laboratory procedures.
- Participate in the training and mentorship of junior staff or students as required.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Stay current with advances in medical laboratory technology and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in clinical laboratory techniques across multiple disciplines.
- Strong understanding of quality control and quality assurance principles.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Registration with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) in Jamaica.
- Additional certifications in specialized laboratory areas.
- Experience with specific brands of automated analyzers common in diagnostic labs.
- Familiarity with international laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189).
