Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our advanced diagnostic team in Richmond, Indiana. This is a crucial full-time position where your expertise will be instrumental in providing accurate and timely laboratory results that directly guide patient diagnosis and treatment. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in performing complex medical laboratory tests, analyzing specimens, and interpreting results across various departments including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of clinical laboratory tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, correlating laboratory data with patient conditions to identify critical values and abnormal findings.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, laboratory policies, safety regulations, and all relevant accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP).
  • Prepare samples for testing, including proper labeling, handling, and storage of patient specimens.
  • Document all test results accurately and promptly in the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Collaborate effectively with pathologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new laboratory methods, procedures, and instrumentation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP or an equivalent nationally recognized agency.
  • Proficiency in performing tests across various laboratory disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Specialized certification in a particular laboratory discipline (e.g., SBB, SM).
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies in a laboratory setting.
  • Prior experience in a high-volume hospital or reference laboratory setting.
